چکیده
‘l.THEFOLLOWING describes a relatively simple amid inexpensive modification of the Beckman No. 2980 fluorescence attachment for the Beckman DIT spectrophotometer which permits rapid and easy imiterchange of both primary and secondary filters and increases the flexibility and adaptability of this instrument in fluorimetric analysis. The filter plate assembly for the secondary filters as originally supplied with the fluorescence attachment (Fig. 1, upper half) can be fitted with a maximnum of two filters. Changing of these filters in the standard attachment involves tile removal of the filter plate from the spectrophotometer photo tube housing and disassembly of the filter plate. The authors’ modifications of the secondary filter plate and filter carrier (Fig. 1, lower half) were accomplished after removal from tile photo tube housing and disassembly. The top and flat spring portion of the filter carrier were sawed off (Fig. 1, at center left). The tops of the rectangular filter compartments of the modified filter carrier were left open. A spring-haded friction contact was added at the top of the center vertical pillar between the filter compartments to maintain time vertical orientation of the filter carrier. The spring-

Adaptation of the Beckman Model B spectrophotometer to the measurement of dilute fluorescent solutions.
HE INCREASING USE of fluorimetry in routine analysis is reflected in a variety of commercially available instruments which, in many instances, are either prohibitive to the average laboratory due to high cost or lack proper sensitivity. Unlike the Beckman DU spectrophotometer, its clinical counterpart, known as Model B, is not provided with a standard fluorimetric attachment. The versatility of...
متن کاملUltramicro method for serum bilirubin by diazo blue reaction.
ROPER CLINICAL MANAGEMENT of infants with erythroblastosis fetalis necessitates the determination of total serum bilirubin. Of the many modifications of the original diazo reaction on blood serum (1) a micromethod using capillary blood is preferable. One tenth miffiliter of serum was used by Davidson et al. (2) in their modification of the Ernst and F#{246}rster (3) method and by With (4, 5) in...
متن کاملSulfunic Acid Modifired MCM-41 Mesoporous Silica as an Efficient Nano-Catalyst for Synthesis of amides and lactams from Oximes Via Beckman Rearrangement
Mesoporous MCM-41 silicas anchored with sulfonic acid (–SO3H) groups (denoted MSN-SA) via postsynthesis modification are very effective for the Beckman rearrangement. A simple and convenient procedure for conversion of a variety oximes to their corresponding amides and lactams has been developed. The reaction was carried out in the presence of MSN-SA as the catalyst. The best results for conver...
متن کاملModification of Silica surface by Titanium sol synthesis and characterization
Hydrophobic silica titanium nanoparticles (STNPs) were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process using liquid modification. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) studies were demonstrated the attachment of titanium on the silica surface. Titanium content enhanced the agglomeration of particles as shown in topography results. The N2 adsorption-desorption followed T...
